Melancholic melodies combined with a brutal intensity and groove. A song where the black metal influences come through, as in Dissection meets Immortal.
lyrics
Wardens of the Grove
stories told of our existence
they live in the same world
shrouded for the simple eye
hidden in plain sight
blurred out by modern lights
i urge you to wake up
wake up
in a mirrored universe
we travel together
only to find us as a reflection of the past
for each and every tree, we wreak havoc upon thee
for we are, the wardens of the grove
roots deep as time itself
bleeding out
bleeding for greed
bleeding in silence
bleeding
i urge you to wake up
wake up
in a symbiotic universe
you travel alone
infatuated by the glittering sky
we guarded the eden
we nourished your crime
blessed with a reason
blessed with a beastial mind
the beast you bear inside
unleashed
unleashed, upon these sacred lands
for we are, the wardens of the grove
uea
genetically
modified
controlled by your own, ecosystem (snappy)
you wanted it
you swallowed the knowledge so take it
every action has its price
we've outlived the great cold and it's hunger
you're but a splinter, in this self-consuming darkness
in the ashes we thrive, so if you burn it all down, we shall awaken
there will be no remorse, there will only be blood, your life, will be taken
so can we dance with fire
we are the wardens
av jord är du kommen
till jord, skall du åter bli
för vi är
vi är, vittran från norr
Translated
earth you have come
to earth you shall become again
we are
we are Vittran from the north.

I love when black metal bands derive inspiration from the cosmos. Honestly, what’s more “black”, mysterious and filled with darkness than outer space? Imperialist have made their triumphant return with this killer EP that further cements their status as one of the best USBM/blackened thrash bands doing it today. Just listen to those fiery guitars and vicious vocals! And don’t get me started on those pinpoint accurate drums. Find your nearest tall building and get yourself kidnapped by aliens! Erik Salazar
